Gloria Steinem permanently reshaped the cultural and political landscape by shifting public consciousness to recognize systemic oppression and awakening men to the shared liberation found in dismantling patriarchy. Through her pioneering journalism, the co-founding of Ms. magazine, and decades of relentless grassroots organizing, she dismantled rigid social scripts and proved that true equity relies on mutual awareness, shared humanity, and the freedom for every individual to live unconstrained by obsolete roles.

Not only is she a cultural icon, she was a queen on the chessboard of the world, and we've lost her.

I was born in the late 50's and this was the wave I grew up on. A wise person told me once that the world can be viewed spiritually as as a chess board, some are born to be pawns vital to the game of life, and others are born to be rooks, queens and kings. These people hold a certain "spiritual" power for good or ill in the world. Recently we have lost three that come to mind, Robert Redford, Dolly Parton and Gloria Steinem - like all good stories they come in threes. Hopefully they can continue their care for the world from the Other Side.
