Santa Barbara is a beautiful town, it was a sleepy town, even with all our Hollywood stars, but we politely ignore them when we see them in parks, or at organic food groceries.
But then there was that soap opera; Santa Barbara 1984-1993. And suddenly we were put on the Map of the World. These kinds of things have consequences. Everyone wanted to live here suddenly, so landlords became rapacious and rents first doubled, then trebled, and then?
A house that was renting for $1,200 a month suddenly was $3,500 and could they get more $4,500? My friends and I, renters of course, were tossed on the sea of greed as well as everyone else. There was a great exodus of locals that left this lovely hometown because of it. But we lived through that too.
We do have the Sea at the foot of our town, the sea, the sea, the shining sea.... and like Mary Oliver countless dawns, days and sunsets have I seen at all the different beaches here.
Mostly we are a perfect example of California casual lifestyle clothing. We like comfortable casual clothing, natural fabrics of course, and we wear sandals eleven months of the year.
Sunheart's choice of apparel is influenced by being born in Santa Barbara; the colors of the beach, rippling bougainvillea vines, Mexican food and folk art, and the casual sand from shoes and wet pants from strolling along the beach.
Sunheart celebrates our 16th year online offering beautiful clothing in luscious fabrics, fashionable style for small to plus size figures.
We are still a small shop focused on providing lovely women's wear and now branching out to home goods too.
Thank you for being part of the growing SunHeart tribe and we look forward to surfing the waves and staying on our board....amid all the sea changes.
